About This Site

This site is dedicated to the 1969 Memorial Film SPRING & PORT WINE

It is the product of many hours of research into locations used in the film and any other

background information. The film was shot in early 1969, in Bolton, Lancashire. It starred James Mason, Diana Coupland, Susan George,        Hannah Gordon, Rodney Bewes and Len Jones as the Crompton Family.

During research for this site, I was contacted by Bernard Smidowicz, who also starred in the film as the man who delivered the overcoat to the Crompton house. Bernard's depth of   knowledge of the film in all areas is very comprehensive, as although only playing a small role in the film, he was very involved with the film crew. It has been almost entirely due to the help I've received from Mr Smidowicz that this site is possible.

So I must give special thanks to Bernard & his wife, Pauline for having been especially generous with their knowledge, time, memories, hospitality & friendship.
