OPENING SHOTS

The opening sequence was filmed from The Bolton Institute of Higher Education. The building was under construction in 1969, when the cameras were set up there.

HILDA & WILF'S MILL

The shots from inside and outside the mill were filmed at

Sunnyside mill, which was at the end of Essingdon Street. Sadly the building has now been demolished.

HAROLD ON BICYCLE BY CANAL

The shot of Rodney Bewes riding his bike along the canal

towpath was filmed at NOB END (pardon !), which is near

Little Lever. This area is pretty much unchanged since 1969.

THE CROMPTON'S HOUSE

The house where the Crompton family lived is in Grisdale Road.

THE PARK

Scenes filmed in the park of Ned Duckworth & Hilda Crompton were shot in a Queen's Park area known as "Pie Crust".

THE STEPS (Daisy Crompton)

The slope where Diana Coupland is seen running away

towards the end of the film is known as "Gorse Steps".

It was filmed near to St. Stephen & All Martyrs Primary school between Hag End Brow & Radcliffe Rd.

DAISY & RAFE BY THE CANAL

The scenes of Rafe Crompton running after Daisy near the end of the film were shot around the Nob End area by Little Lever. Close up shots were done at Lee International Studio's,LONDON.

Mrs GASKET & ARTHUR'S HOUSE

These scenes were filmed in Ernest Street near to Queens Park. Only one scene was shot here, of Arthur & Florence going to stay with Mrs Gasket after the row at the Crompton's.

THE CAR RACE

The musical scenes showing the race between Arthur & the Horsefall & Trott van started in Dorset Street, then in Castle Street and continuing along a now closed road that ran

alongside St Peters Church. The two vehicles are seen turning into Anglia Grove from Mercia Street, and finally into Grisdale Rd. (this shows that the scene was shot in separate parts as the turn from Mercia Street into Anglia Grove is, in real life,

travelling away from Grisdale Rd)
